My Past Instagram Page
Hello, cozy art community! Welcome back to my blog. I will be addressing my old Instagram page and what happened to it.
My page was @raeclairdelune. My first post on this page was on August 27, 2022. It was very nerve-wrecking. I had been planning for months about what I wanted to accomplish with my brand and my art. I worked on what my brand design would look like, what I would post on social media and also where I would post. I decided on posting on Instagram and Youtube. I also had to figure out a regular posting schedule that would work for me. I still had to deal with my regular daily tasks and also whatever other things suddenly came up in my personal life.
Posting on social media does feel like you’re on a hamster wheel. You are constantly in movement, yet at times it feels like you’re going nowhere. I was overwhelmed at times. I had so many things I wanted to accomplish right away but I knew I needed to take it one step at a time. Also, it was a little discouraging because I was starting from zero and growth can be hard, especially with an ever-changing algorithm to compete against.
I participated in DTIYS (draw this in your stye) challenges, I shared posts about my personal art studies and merch I’d made (stickers, digital planners, etc). Here are some videos on my Youtube channel that showcase these previous art challenges:

I failed at the 100 days art challenge, but that's ok.

There is a pretty good art community on there and it is pretty big too. Depending on what type of art you prefer, you could find it there. I prefer more cozy, cute art or landscape paintings.
I ended up quitting Instagram after getting disheartened about not growing my audience on there. I had to remind myself that I was making art for myself, not for numerous likes. There were times I would post something I had made and people loved it, other times I posted something I liked even more than my previous artwork but it received less attention. This was no fault of anyone, it was just how the algorithm was working that day. Since deleting my posts, I am actually happier. I don’t feel a constant pressure to post something that everyone else would like, instead I choose to be creative when I want to be and can choose which of my artworks to share. I also find that it’s not as much pressure when I am posting on Youtube.
If you are thinking of sharing your art on Instagram, go ahead. If you are too shy, then just keep your art for yourself. Keep on trying your best to make progress and have fun doing so. Have a lovely week everyone!
